Leszek P. was born in 1966. His alcoholic mother did not take care of her son. He was raised by his childhood home, grandmother and uncle. Leszek P. liked to ride the train. He would disappear from his place of residence for several days, spending the night in the woods. His dream was to find himself a wife. To no avail. In 1992, Leszek P. was arrested in connection with the suspected murder of teenage Sylvia. During the trial, he confessed to committing 9267 rapes and murders between 1984 and 1992. Psychiatric experts found Leszek P. mentally retarded and sexually disturbed. Disastrous work by investigators ended with him being proven guilty of one rape and one murder.Leszek P. was sentenced to 25 years in prison, after which he was placed in a secure detention center in Gostynin. Libera reviewed 72 volumes of the case file of Leszek P. He spoke with his relatives, as well as with a woman who survived Leszek P's attack. The photo included in the book is a photograph from school. Libera got it from a family member of Leszek P. He had it colored and enlarged at a photo shop in Leszek P.'s birthplace, Borzytuchom.
