Poland, Pabianice, 1967

Buźniczna Street in the former ghetto of Pabianice, named Małgorzata Fornalska Street after the war; a young Christian girl goes to her first communion. This is one of the first photographs Libera took in his life. In Libera's dreams, the girl captured in the frame had the face of Alina Szapocznikow. Szapocznikow did not go to her first communion in Libera's dreams. On the zyciepabianic.pl website, a text by Roman Kubiak from 2022 reads: "Alina Szapocznikow after the war did not want to return to Poland, to Pabianice, where she spent her childhood. "She knew that Jews returning to their homes after the war were not welcomed very kindly." - Tadeusz Rolke, a photographer and friend of Szapocznikow, explains this decision. Simply put, Alina was as afraid of Poles as much as she was of Germans."
